A new trend I’ve been noticing is that more and more brides are requesting small bouquets for the mothers to carry instead of pin-on or wrist corsages. This makes the mother feel more formal without making them feel like they are going to prom. It is also more comfortable when hugging everyone and shaking hands before and after the wedding because you can set it down and not worry about smashing flowers. Check out how cute this one was in a wedding from last year…. Love photos taken by Mary Wyar!
I’m hanging out in Wooster, OH with 12 of my students because we have the State Floriculture Career Development Event tomorrow. My teams have won first the last two years in a row. This team has a lot to live up to! They just finished up swimming and are now in their rooms, hopefully studying. I doubt it though. I wouldn’t have been when I was in high school! As long as they let me go to sleep at a reasonable hour and try their best tomorrow I’ll be happy….
Check out this prototype I created for Start’s Prom yesterday at school. They have a greek theme this year. Hope they love it! Thank you to my student JaLynne for taking pictures for me.
Check out pictures that JP Photography took of Amber and Mike’s wedding from April 10th.y are up on their blog. I loved the rose and calla lily bouquet!
Check out the centerpieces from Saturday. LOVED them! The tall cylinders are brand new and available for rental. They are 26″ cylinders and looked great with purple dendrobium orchids submerged and a floating candle on top. Each one had three cylinders around the base with floating candles to add to the ambiance of the evening. The second option were squares filled with assorted purple and white flowers and they had four cylinders with floating candles around. I wish I could have seen everything lit! Can’t wait to see the pictures from JP Photography!
So as I was working on this weekend’s wedding today, I stopped and thought about how much I love my job! I am so excited for this summer when I have a wedding almost every weekend. The day can’t come soon enough so I am able to design flowers every day! I have definitely been enjoying my Spring Break from teaching!
This wedding is one of my largest of the year. Here are some more pictures of what I have finished so far. Aren’t the calla bouquets going to be gorgeous against the euro eggplant dresses? I love the centerpieces too with white hydrangea and roses, and purple dendrobium orchids and roses. This is one of the two centerpiece options. I’ll take some more tomorrow of the finished product but they won’t be as good as the ones JP Photography will take. I have been looking forward to working with them again since the fall! Going to bed now so I can get back to work in the morning!
I am so excited for this weekend. Check out these dendrobium orchids whose throats are the exact color of the bridemaid’s dresses (Euro Eggplant)! Thank you so much to Nora from Mayesh Wholesale Florist for picking them out perfectly! We make a great team! The roses and hydrangeas are gorgeous too. Can’t wait to see the callas that come in on Friday!
Here are some pics from Easter egg dying with my boyfriend’s family tonight…
Kyle made me a Beautiful Blooms by Jen one and I tried to make my logo : )
And I was playing around today making arrangements to take to Easter. For some reason I was in a wild flower mood. Apparently the flowers weren’t very photogenic, but I’ll share them anyway. lol
